agree with you. Our family had three talented swimmers, and now we have none. Why? My daughter, in the 8th grade, had a catastrophic swimming injury (venous thoracic outlet syndrome) caused by overtraining. I would love to chat with you about that!

How did you find out that your daughter had this and how did you treat it?

Her arm turned purple during practice. Please listen to our story on this podcast: https://www.podbean.com/ew/pb-busp8-182a01a Is there a way for me to send you a photo of what her arm looked like? There is also a great article about VTOS in swimswam magazine. This is an injury normally seen in college swimmers, but because of early specialization, injuries are now happening much earlier. https://swimswam.com/thoracic-outlet-syndrome/ And for all the parents who thought that swimming was going to be a ticket to a college scholarship (LOL), our medical bills were around $150,000. Happy to talk more!

Bill, we have changed our program over the last 6 years. Our 11 and unders do 6 week sessions 2-3 a week, and then a 2 hour meet at the end of each session. We strongly encourage other activities.
